Unlock Homeownership Opportunities for Households of Color with SDHC’s Equity Project
The San Diego Housing Commission (SDHC) introduces the Homeownership Equity Project, a pivotal initiative aimed at bridging the homeownership gap for communities of color in San Diego. This program offers substantial financial support and expert guidance for first-time homebuyers of color, fostering equitable access to homeownership and the benefits it brings.
Personalized Guidance: Contact the SDHC Homeownership Advisor at (619) 578-7788 or email@example.com for tailored assistance on down payments, closing costs, credit counseling, and debt reduction.
Up to $40,000 in loans and grants for down payment and closing costs.
Eligibility for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) households earning 80% to 150% of San Diego’s Area Median Income.
Pilot Program Perks: A special pilot program for middle-income, first-time homebuyers of color launched in June 2023, offering a mix of loans and grants to facilitate the purchase of a home.
How to Apply: Begin by contacting a participating lender/loan officer who will guide you through the application process with SDHC.
Community Collaboration: The project is a collective effort involving 14 community organizations, SDHC, and the San Diego City-County Reinvestment Task Force, supported by a $7.5 million grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation.
